The Manitoba Museum, a not-for-profit institution, is Manitoba’s largest heritage centre and number one paid tourist attraction with over 300,000 on-site visitors annually, including 95,000 students. We uniquely combine human and natural history themes, multidimensional interpretation, science, and astronomy education with quality school and community programs, special events and exhibits. We are pleased to announce an employment opportunity in our Finance Department.  Reporting directly to the Business Office Manager, the incumbent performs detailed accounting, payroll and clerical duties for The Museum Business Office.  Initiative and sound judgment are required in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and actions to be taken.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting principles and procedures and reporting requirements with a proven ability to carry out day to day accounting activities.  You are computer literate and have a sound working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook e-mail. Experience with Blackbaud software would be a definite asset. You are able to work independently, meet deadlines and have a strong attention to detail.   You have demonstrated a high level of personal integrity in your career to date.  You are a high school graduate and have successfully completed the first year of a recognized accounting program. Mid-level completion of the accounting program would be a further asset.  You have at least three years related experience in an office environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  A detailed job description can be found at www.manitobamuseum.ca.
