Ready To Work: Employment Training Programs
The Ready To Work Program is a national program that provides Employment Training Opportunities to prepare people for the tourism workforce.
Programs offer a mix of classroom and on-the-job training, providing people with the skills, knowledge, attitudes and experience required for long-term, stable employment in tourism - the fastest growing industry. Across Canada, close to 300,000 new jobs are projected for the next five years!
In order to build strong foundational skills that employers in the tourism industry recognize and require, participants will receive the emerit Tourism Essentials workbook. This workbook is packed with practical tools and covers topics such as:
- Professionalism
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Tourism Knowledge
- Job Search Skills

Once participants complete the emerit Tourism Essentials workbook, they are eligible to gain recognition through completion of the emerit Tourism Essentials Exam. This exam is a foundational credit that is granted to learners who demonstrate the mastery of the knowledge and skills required to obtain an entry-level or frontline jobs in the tourism industry. The exam provides credit towards emerit Professional Certification, the pinnacle of emerit Tourism Training.
The National Ready To Work program is funded through Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
