Customer Service - For the Short and Long Term Sustainability of Your Business
Customer
Service is so much more than smiling and answering customer's
questions. It is a potential customer's access to your business. Can
customers book directly online and your website states that you are
full, when in fact space has opened up? Does someone from your
organization keep the space availability current? Are voicemail messages
returned in a timely manner? You may be losing customers and potential
customers and not even be aware of it. Worse yet, they may be able to
book somewhere else, prefer the new business and not return to yours.
Businesses
spend a great deal of time figuring out how to increase sales and
keeping their operations profitable. Many times they are not aware of
the impact one dissatisfied customer can have on their business. People
are far more likely to talk about a negative experience than a positive
one. With all of the competition that is out there, you may only get
once chance to expose that customer to your business. Every contact with
your business should be positive. The only way that can happen is if
the customer receives consistent service in a timely manner.
MTEC
is pleased to announce that we will be offering Manitoba BEST Service
Excellence complimentary on August 28, from 9:00am - 4:00pm. For

3-Part Business Training Series - Preparing Your Business for the Long or Short Term Absence of the Manager
Whether
you are the manager or the owner of a company, many of the details
involved in the day-to-day operations may be solely done by yourself.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you became ill or for some
other reason couldn't operate your company for a short or extended
period of time?
There
are many reasons that organizations don't have a succession plan; lack
of time and resources to train key personnel; lack of trust that they
could do it as well as you; or maybe never really thinking about it. For
whatever reason, having a plan can mean the difference between your
company surviving in your absence, or suffering financial loss.
All
three sessions will be complimentary, but space is limited to 12
participants per session. Register for one, two or all three sessions.
The information provided will not only be useful in the case of the
manager's absence but for the sustainability and future growth of the
business.
Session 1: Wednesday, September 11, 9:00am-12:00pm

Train the Trainer
Young workers look
to supervisors and managers for guidance, training and direction.
Trainers should be are aware of their safety and health responsibilities
and expectations in the workplace. As a trainer you should provide
leadership, establish safe work procedures, lead by example and be
familiar with the act and regulations.
The Manitoba
Workplace Safety and Health Act W210 legislation requires supervisors to
take all precautions necessary to protect the safety and health of a
worker under his or her supervision. Supervisors and managers are
required by legislation to ensure 4(2)(h)(i) the employer's workers are
supervised by a person who is competent; because of knowledge, training
or experience, that work is performed in a safe manner.
This two day
workshop will help participants understand legal requirements of being a
trainer, provide them with the tools and have a basic understanding of
the duties and functions of being an effective leader and skills to
become a trainer.
Join us on August
13 & 14, 2013! SAFE Hospitality is holding a two day Train the
Trainer workshop. This workshop is geared towards supervisors and
managers or anybody with a general interest in becoming an effective
leader and trainer.

On-Site Sessions Most Valued Form of Training: Survey
School
may be out for the summer, but in the best workplaces, the learning
doesn't stop. More than one-third (39 per cent) of Canadian workers
identified in-house, instructor-led workshops as the type of
professional training they value most, according to a survey by
OfficeTeam. Tuition reimbursement for off-site seminars ranked second,
with 32 per cent of the responses; surpassing online courses (15 per
cent) and reference books (10 per cent), found the poll of 284 workers.

Onboarding Crucial to Retention
A
quick, smooth and effective onboarding process is crucial to retention
and high performance from staff, one industry expert has said. Within
the first 30 days of employment, an employee will decide if they feel
welcome. Staff turnover occurs in the first 45 days of employment 22% of
the time, and 90% of new employees make their decision in regards to
staying at a company within the first six months. Categories:

Service Excellence for Chinese Visitors
Not
only are our communities, schools, and workplaces becoming more and
more culturally diverse; so are our customers. With Manitoba's high
immigration rate, tourism businesses are servicing a diverse pool of
customers on an everyday basis. In 2009, Canada was granted Approved
Destination Status with China. As a result, this should encourage more
Chinese visitors to come to Canada and Manitoba. The question is -Are we
ready? Are tourism businesses prepared to service the culturally
diverse visitor?
In
this session you will: Understand why tourism from China may increase
and the potential it has for Manitoba's tourism industry, gain awareness
of the culture, values, and service expectations of the culturally
diverse visitor, learn how to improve cross-cultural communication
skills and overcome language barriers, prepare your business for Chinese
visitors and learn basic Chinese words, greetings and other strategies
to provide Service Excellence.
Cost: Complimentary: Regular $149.00 plus GST
