Preparing For Promotion From Peer to Boss 

 

Having a succession plan involves developing your employees and sometimes promoting some of them into leadership positions. This can be tough for the employee, as well as peer group from which they are being promoted. How do you transition from peer to boss and be perceived as a leader? Being a leader is tough enough, but a promotion to leadership is often one of the most difficult positions to be in.

Start Preparing Your Staff to Welcome the Professionals from Canada's Tourism Industry Attending the TGC LGBT Tourism Conference 2016  

Serving the Diverse Guest: LGBTTQ Awareness, is a 3 hour session that will bring a foundational level of awareness of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. Participants will take away best practices to be a LGBT welcoming organization.  

 

Having this national conference in Winnipeg will give us the opportunity to showcase our city and show what "Hospitality" is all about. We want to make sure that every visitor's experience is a memorable one.

Attention Event Coordinators & Planners!

 

It is an exciting time to be an event planner. Event planners are being called upon to develop and stage a number of events every year.
 
Whether you are new to the industry or established in your career, MTEC's 3- Part Training Series for Event Coordinators and Planners will provide the tools to assist you in planning an event from start to finish, covering areas such as administration, marketing, human resources, risk management and more!
This series will also be very beneficial for those of you who may not have the title of 'Event Planner', but you are the person in your organization who performs that function as part of your position, i.e.: organizing the annual golf tournament, AGM, conference, etc.

Retail Training at the Manitoba Training and Education Centre 

 

The Manitoba Training and Education Centre is pleased to announce that a new training program has been approved by Education and Advanced Learning. Retail Sales Associate Training Program will prepare individuals for employment for retail positions in Manitoba. Graduates of this 6 week, comprehensive training program will have the edge when applying to current and new retailers coming to Manitoba. Acquiring formal training will also better prepare graduates for promotions within these organizations.

The Manitoba Training and Education Centre, our not-for-profit Private Vocational School, offers 6 and 8 week training programs. All programs have a work practicum component and all of our training programs are based on nationally recognized occupational standards.

 

September 9: Front Desk Clerk Training Program (6 weeks)

September 9: Housekeeping Room Attendant Training Program (6 weeks)

September 9: Retail Sales Associate Training Program (6 weeks) 

 

These 6 week comprehensive training program are delivered by industry professionals in the classroom and a portion of the Line Cook Training Program is delivered in a commercial kitchen. Students will not only gain the education and skill to perform these jobs, they will have gained practical experience through their work practicum.
