What's New

Succession Planning for Long-Term Sustainability

Are you hiring employees that, with training and experience, will be able to be promoted into supervisory and management positions? Are you providing opportunities for your employees to grow within your organization? If you aren't, you may be training your employees for jobs with your competitors.

With all of the new retailers, restaurants and hotels in Manitoba competing not only for your customers, but also for your employees, you want to make sure that your employees remain loyal to your business. The grass is not always greener on the other side, but they may not know that!

Retaining well-trained employees will be beneficial to the short and long-term sustainability of your business. Customers will receive consistent, exceptional customer service from well-trained, long term employees and you will have a succession plan. Employees will see an opportunity for advancement without having to go elsewhere to be recognized. It is win-win.

The Manitoba Training and Education Centre, our Private Vocational School, is offering our next 6 week Front Desk Clerk Training Program and Housekeeping Room Attendant Training Program on March 9th and again in June. All of our training programs are based on nationally recognized occupational standards.

The next Line Cook Training Program will start on April 20th. This 8 week comprehensive training program is delivered by industry professionals in the classroom and a commercial kitchen. Students will not only gain the education and skill to be a Line Cook, they will have gained practical experience through their work practicum.

Manitoba is experiencing rapid growth in the hospitality and restaurant industry. MTEC opened the school for two purposes: to provide students with training and experience that will assist them in gaining employment and excelling at their careers, and to meet the current and forecasted need for well-trained employees for the industry.
