Ergonomics in the Workplace - Practicable Solutions
Part 8 of the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation states “when an employer is aware, or ought reasonably to have been aware, or has been advised, that a work activity creates a risk of musculoskeletal injury, the employer must ensure that a risk is assessed; and on the basis of the assessment implement control measures to eliminate or reduce, so far as reasonably practicable, the risk of MSI to the worker. Ergonomics involves fitting the job to the worker. Ergonomic hazards exist when the design and organization of the work create musculoskeletal physical problems for the worker. This workshop will provide you the basic knowledge and tools required to conduct a baseline assessment of your workplace/workstations and help you to identify and correct potential MSI injuries before they become serious. Serious MSI therefore lead to time loss and a potential increase of WCB rates.
