Psychological Health & Safety in Your Workplace

Accusations of harassment and toxic work environments can result in thousands of dollars in legal fees, and harm a company’s reputation. Employers have a duty of care to their employees, inherent in the employment contract, which requires them to protect employee mental health. With mental health issues amounting to $50 billion a year, and workplace stress being the primary cause of mental illness, Canadian employers can protect themselves and their employees by using the Canadian Psychological Health and Safety Standard. In this session, you will develop a plan to protect your organization and care for employees who deal with mental health issues – one in five Canadians. You will assess 13 psychosocial factors that lead to stress, make plans to enhance each factor, and explore strategies for mental health reasonable accommodations.
