  3. Learn to “see” the work and how it flows with an eye to seek out opportunities to reduce costs, while improving  production and service levels 
  4. Understand how to identify process suppliers and its customers as well as what the customers truly value 
  5. Identify process inefficiencies
  6. Find out ways to reduce or remove any unvalued work (work not important to the customer and the business)
  7. Know the difference between a symptom or issue and the root cause of the problem
