DESCRIPTION: The Fort Garry Hotel prides itself on a history of exceptional banquet service. As Banquet Manager, your leadership and passion for guest service will continue to drive outstanding operating results. The Banquet Manager will oversee the execution of banquet events, coordinating with the hotel Sales & Catering team to ensure all expectations are met. This includes leading a team of up to 40 employees in the banquet department and acting in conjunction with the kitchen team.
Our Banquet Manager needs to be comfortable organizing many moving parts during any given day, in addition to meeting administrative needs of the department including scheduling, payroll and performance management.

Duties
Performs all banquet manger functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
Lead a team in providing exceptional guest services in preparation, during and following events.
Supervise the setup of function rooms according to event order specifications.
Visually inspect function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness and accurate setup.
Review, maintain and stay up to date with upcoming events, communicating regularly with the Catering & Sales Teams. This includes sharing and reviewing contracts, banquet event orders (BEO) and kitchen details to ensure all banquet team members have all the necessary information to guarantee a successful event.
Ensure billing is complete and processed in a timely manner.
Order alcoholic beverages as well as other beverages for events in liaison with the purchasing department.
Oversee clearing and cleaning of all venues after functions and ensure event spaces are always left presentable.
Graciously and quickly manage any client issues. Report how you rectified the situation to your Director of Catering and relevant department heads.
Be comfortable performance managing your employees; this includes, but is not limited to, training, coaching and performance reviews. This will be in conjunction with your Director of Catering and Director of Human Resources.
Assists team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth.
Engage and/or take a lead in regular, consistent meetings with employees, from one-on -one check-ins to daily huddles, team, and department meetings.
Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures of the Fort Garry Hotel.
Schedules banquet service staff to forecast and service standards, while maximizing profits and keeping labour cost under control.
Leads shifts and actively participates in the servicing of events.
Acts as a liaison to the kitchen staff.
Manages departmental inventories and maintains equipment.
Step in for staff as needed in urgent circumstances
Assist with managing payroll.
Other duties as assigned by the department head.

Qualifications
Hospitality Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Focus on understanding and delivering exceptional service for any hotel function.
Ability to work under pressure; must be a clear thinker, remaining calm with the ability to resolve problems using your best judgement.
Can lead and direct a team.
Must have Smart Choices® certification (responsible beverage service) at time of application.
Ability to work any shift – days, evenings, late nights, weekends & holidays.
