DESCRIPTION: | Job Title: Advancement Officer (Donations & Grants) *One-year Term Reports to: Head of Engagement & Advancement Department: Advancement Salary: $40,000-45,000/annum JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Head of Engagement & Advancement, the Advancement Officer will act as an integral member of WAG-Qaumajuqs Advancement Team, and be responsible for individual giving and stewardship, as well as managing government, foundation, and corporate granting. This includes researching funding opportunities, writing individual, foundation, and corporate appeals and funding applications, stewarding supporters, and providing administrative assistance to the individual giving plan. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place for solicitation and stewardship Stay up to date with best practices for donor relations Track funding received and funding opportunities Maintain and update database for grants relationships and gifts, and individual donor records as needed Other duties as assigned to support annual development plans Individual Giving Steward donors as directed Assist in the planning and execution of supporter events Provide customer support to supporters Prepare and mail supporter packages and stewardship materials Assist with writing of individual giving materials as required Research Liaise with Gallery employees to understand program and operational needs Research new funding sources Meet with representatives of corporations, foundations in order to understand funding preferences and application requirements Grants Management Develop proposals for corporate, foundation, and government grants, including annual funding and one-time applications for special projects and initiatives Prepare and submit interim and final grant reports and annual updates for funding bodies, including tracking budgets, milestones, and feedback JOB REQUIREMENTS: Proven superior oral and written communication skills University degree/diploma in business/fund development and/or equivalent experience Minimum two years experience within an art gallery, museum, or non-profit ASSETS: Strong relationship-building skills and experience Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint Familiarity with Raisers Edge software would be considered an asset Knowledge of fundraising practices in Canada |
